Home Sweet Home

After another lovely whirlwind tour of southern California, we got early Thursday morning. Although we did stay pretty busy, I really enjoyed this trip.

Saturday we had a wonderful day with Ashley and Eric and Eric's family--parents, step-parents, sisters, and brother-in-law.

Sunday we went to visit my friend and her family in Hesperia. We had a great time catching up with them as we hadn't seen them in over a year. They have two delightful kids and I was so happy to see that Natalie and David involved their kids in all of our interaction (a stark contrast to the visit with another friend at the end of the trip whose young children weren't even expected to join us for dinner at the table but ate in the playroom in front of the tv).

Tuesday was definitely one of the highlights of the trip. We went to Sea World with Dana and Josh.

A turtle to remind Dana and me of our little ones we had at Biola.

We got to see lots of animals and a couple shows.

I loved petting the dolphins and watching them jump, though feeding them was a bit overpriced.

I think my favorite, even though it was really ugly, was the lungfish. They can breathe air, and will drown if they're unable to. They survive the droughts that happen in the parts of Africa, Australia, and South America where they live by burying themselves in the mud. They can live out of the water for a year at a time in the little burrow that they seal themselves in.

Wow.

Wednesday morning we had breakfast with my dad. Then we went up to Fullerton and my friend, Matia, from high school did my hair. She and her husband, Eric, had come over for dinner Monday night.

When she was done, we drove up to the mountains to visit Kelli, my friend from elementary school, and her family. Kelli and Mike have two little boys (whom we got a quick glimpse of as they ran from their playroom to the living room) and a four-month old girl.

After having dinner with them, we left and started the long drive home. 'Chung drove most of the way, and for some reason, it again took a lot longer than usual.

Next year we'll probably be making quite a few trips down...maybe we should fly.
