Introducing Puffin

One of the things that happened between my Jan 2010 blog and Jan 2011 one is that we added a new member to our family zoo, Puffin. Puffin joined us in late August at 9 1/2 weeks.



Puffin is our second Great Dane, and as a condition of purchasing her we agreed to show her in AKC conformation events. She is a harlequin (Brembo is a black, obviously), and from breeders whom we adore.



In the 5 months that we have had her, Puffin has already gained almost 100 lbs. She has also established a place for herself in our hearts.



She's a very affectionate dog, and loves to "clean" people's faces with kisses.



Puffin loves to "hunt," and oftentimes on our walks at the dog park she can be seen with her head in one hole or another.



She also loves playing with her "big sister," Brembo, and, though Puffin is younger than Brembo, in many ways she's also dominant to Brembo. It took Brembo a while to warm up to the idea of having yet another interloper in the house stealing our attention from her, but she has warmed up to Puffin and now that Puffin is getting bigger, they are playing together more than ever.



She had her first show in December for 3 days between Christmas and New Years, and, while she didn't win, did well and enjoyed herself. She has another show next weekend too.
